“Any time you have an opportunity to make a difference in this world and you don't, then you are wasting your time on Earth.” -Roberto Clemente
“Ora et Labora”
Pray and work. These words, immortalized by the Benedictine monastic order, describe the heartbeat of my life. I blend the compassionate heart of a pastor with the creativity and tenacity of an entrepreneurial business and community leader as means to make an eternal difference in the world around me.
At the core of why I do what I do every day stems from the fact that I am not satisfied with merely existing. I believe we are all born to leave a unique and lasting impact on the world . Equipped with both an MDiv and an MBA (both including concentrations in organizational leadership) as well as a vast professional background ranging from that of a pastor and chaplain, business founder and CEO, non-profit director, Air Force officer, and even an elected public official, I’ve never shied away from taking chances and walking by faith into whatever grand adventure God puts before me.
The way I see it, the worst case scenario is that I fail and all that will remain is a bit of experience and a great story to share with others. However, by saying “yes!” and walking by faith into the unknown, we could change lives and even alter the course of history. In my view, every experience, every lesson, every idea and every opportunity is both a gift and a responsibility to faithfully steward the time and the resources before us.
Personally, I am the committed husband to Erin, dedicated father of Charlotte and Simon. We proudly call Pittsburgh, PA home because that’s where our family has been centered and for four or five generations. Professionally, I work primarily in the hospice and health care sector. I’m also proud to serve as the covocational pastor of The Hills, a Christian Church, a congregationally led, family-centric Christian church that meets every Sunday in South Park (the actual park, not the township).
