When people think of leaders, they often imagine the chief executive of large organizations. However, leadership among small teams is far more common and makes a substantially greater difference in the world on a daily basis.

As of this day, I’ve officially been the pastor of The Hills Church for ten years. TEN YEARS! God has truly blessed my family and me over the past decade and I invite you to check on the short video message I’ve posted to mark the occasion.

I was just made aware of yet another name to add to the depressingly long list of pastors and leaders I once looked up to who confessed to grievous sins, warranting separation from the ministries, churches and networks they built.

Martin Luther King, Jr was 39 when he was killed. His life and legacy changed the world. Yet, here I am at 40 years old still hearing someone I looked up for a long time tell me I’m too young, too immature, too inexperienced…

To all the men and women whose stories will never be shared publicly and whose service will only be remember by them and those closest to them, thank you. Happy Veterans Day.

How in the world is my little girl old enough to hold a guitar, let alone play in the band for the first time?!

I refuse to forget and I refuse to permit my children to grow up ignorant of the courage, character, and sacrifice that have gone into building and defending this land and nation we call our home.
